The Business Line Manager leads a team of Product Line Managers (PLMs) and Application Support
Engineers to deliver the following:
- Product vision & strategy for the Health Physics & Radioprotection business line.
- Product financial performance (orders, revenue, gross margin, NWC)
- Product lifecycle management (from product launch to end-of-life)
The Business Line Manager duties are as follows:
- Be an active member of the Product OPCOM
- Lead and inspire a high-performance team to achieve the goals of the Business Line
- Responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, performance management, communications,
succession planning for the Business Line team
- Lead the team in the management of product lines through the full product lifecycle from
launch through to rationalization.
- Work within the Business Line team to deliver a global product vision that is fully aligned with
global market needs and opportunities (as defined by Mirion market strategies). This is
captured in product roadmaps that are regularly updated and communicated to key
regions as well as technology owners to ensure the capture of market and technology feedback
(to drive innovation)
- Utilize the Innovation Development Strategy (IDS) process to ensure PLMs define projects that
deliver the product strategies, and these are inputs to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for
Engineering
- Responsible for optimizing the performance of the business line using the resources in the team
(orders, sales, gross margin, NWC) and ensures appropriate prompt and appropriate action as
needed (e.g. sales improvement through promotional activities, margin improvement through
Value Engineering, lifecycle extension or rationalization).
- Ensure the deployment of the Stage Gate product development process (working closely with
cross functional teams) to deliver winning products
- Ensure that product launch processes are followed to ensure effective product launches
including sales training and effective marketing activity
- Ensure that product managers utilize the classic “4 Ps” of marketing:
- Product: Capture requirements and define strategies to maximize return to the
company within assigned segments. Develop a strategic vision (short, medium and long
term) for the whole product line and express this vision to key stakeholders
- Place: Define targeted territories and/or end-user segments - create and lead the
product launch
- Price: Develop and set market pricing using a customer value approach to maximize
market penetration and return to the company
- Promotion: work with the marketing and marketing communications departments to
identify key Value Propositions and facilitate communications plan to ensure sales
performance
- BA/BSc. in Business, Marketing, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management or Business Management
- Ability to inspire, motivate and manage a team of highly-qualified Product Managers and
Application Support Engineers
- Proven analytical skills and problem-solving techniques
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
