It is also part of the UK’s France Network, including offices in Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseilles and representation to international organisations in Paris (OECD and UNESCO) and Strasbourg (CoE).The British Embassy is currently looking for a **Senior Trade Advisor.**

We are looking for an enterprising team member with commercial experience to join the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) team at the British Embassy in Paris.

**Our setting**
- ** Consumer goods, business services, manufacturing** - you name it. UK companies and products are highly regarded and sought after in Europe for their quality and innovation. With the support of DBT, thousands of UK companies discover new markets and opportunities every year. We are looking for a new team member to support these companies in the French market.
- As **Trade Adviser for the Export Support Service - International Markets (ESS IM)** you will support high potential British exporters access and win business in France. In this role **you will lead a team of two trade advisors** covering commercial and market entry enquiries, as well as supporting UK exporters overcome market access barriers. A core element of the role will be to deliver practical support to UK companies. This will include researching market and sector information, identifying partners who can provide in-market representation and identifying clients.
- You will manage enquiries from UK exporters on market potential, market representation, clients and challenges companies face in accessing the French market. The job holder will **communicate high value opportunities to UK exporters and work proactively** to identify upcoming changes in legislation or practice to ensure UK companies are prepared to deal with these.
- You will also seek to **expand networks of commercial and governmental partners** (e.g. customs authorities and legislators) in France as well as private sector providers of commercial services. As with all DBT positions, there will be a focus on working collaboratively with colleagues across DBT France, including sectoral leads, as well as wider Embassy colleagues specialising in key areas of interest such as customs and business policy.
- DBT’s **mission** in Europe is **to improve market access for businesses, champion free and fair trade, and encourage trade and investment between the UK and Europe.** This is critical to our economies, supporting millions of jobs, driving economic growth, raising wages and improving living standard across the globe, whilst at the same time promoting wider goals like tackling climate change and improving economic security. The team works with both French investors and British companies doing business in France across the main business sectors of the economy.
- Reporting to the DBT France Trade Policy Lead, you will **support some of the UK’s highest potential exporters in their ambition** to grow in the French market.
- As part of the DBT team, you will have the opportunity t**o work with colleagues across 33 markets in Europe, as well as with teams in London and across the UK**.
- In this role **you will manage two (2) staff members and should be able to provide guidance and advice by seeing the bigger picture** in which the team’s work fits. As such, this role offers an excellent opportunity to build upon your leadership skills, as well as expand your own network of industry contacts.

**The role encompasses**:
Supporting UK exporters by providing, guidance, information and insight as part of the ESS IM Europe team - including innovative small companies, entrepreneurs and Medium Sized Businesses, in coordination with export teams across DBT France.

With the support of your team identifying and monitoring key developments in the French market, and produce collaterals that can be used to inform and upskill UK exporters.

Leading the development of key relations with commercial partners and French authorities in order to best serve UK exporters.

Working closely with the ESS-IM Europe Hub in Prague to ensure open communication channels and broader awareness of the French market and its opportunities to enterprising businesses exploring their potential reach across Europe.
