The CCAC National Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the CCAC Focal Point at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology to help ensure that the CCAC supported projects are completed within timeline and in line with the Maldives’ needs and priorities. The CCAC National Project Coordinator will be based at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology on a full-time basis and will report to CCAC. All deliverables are to be validated by the CCAC Focal Point at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.

The National Project Coordinator will also assist in strengthening the long-term institutional and technical capacity dedicated to supporting key mitigation measures that contribute to reducing emissions from these high impact sector and political and institutional backing for the SLCP mitigation strategy.

**Responsibilities**:
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.
The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone.
The Republic of Maldives is a CCAC State Partner. In 2019, the Maldives’ National Action Plan on Air Pollutants was launched, aligned with existing plans to reduce GHGs and outlining 28 mitigation measures across 3 priority source sectors: waste, electricity generation, and transport. The Republic of Maldives through its Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has requested support to sustain and institutionalize the SLCP analytical and planning support within the Ministry.

The CCAC National Project Coordinator will sit at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. He/she will work in close collaboration with the CAC Secretariat team and focal points at the Ministry to coordinate the implementation of CCAC projects in the Maldives and will liaise with implementing partners to enhance awareness on SLCPs. The on-going CCAC projects include:
1. MV 22-001 - Deliver trainings to increase integrated GHG, SLCP, and air pollutant mitigation action¿(Implementer SEI)
2. MV 22-002 - Develop emission inventories for the Maldives transport sector (Implementer UNEP)
3. MV 22-003 - Increase mitigation in the Maldives' waste sector (Implementer CCAP)
4. MV 22-004t - Developing a cooling demand assessment (Consultancy)

Working under the supervision of the CCAC Secretariat, the consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Secure participation and buy-in from across government to implement CCAC supported SLCP activities, including endorsement at high political level.
2. Coordinate all CCAC activities in the Maldives in coordination with the CCAC Focal Point
within the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.
3. Organize awareness and training programs with support from the project partners and CCAC Focal Point of the Maldives
4. Facilitate support to the CCAC project implementers, including support for the organization of training activities, gathering of data and contacts
5. Assist CCAC Focal Point in all aspects of coordinating national SLCP planning, policy and implementation efforts.
6. Assist and advise the project focal points at national level
7. Liaise with relevant departments within the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology and relevant government agencies, and all project partners, including CSOs for effective coordination of all project activities.
8. Review project outputs and progress reports submitted by the CCAC project implementers.
9. Coordinate and organize stakeholder meetings in support of the CCAC projects and maintain meetings records.
10. Prepare information to be shared with relevant stakeholders.
11. Identify opportunities for national and international resources/funding for implementation of National SLCP Strategy.
12. Raise awareness on SLCP at national/sub-national level.
13. Ensure the Republic of Maldives is an active CCAC State Partner and is leveraging benefits from the CCAC partnership (e.g., best practices shared, technical assistance, funding, bilateral partnerships, etc).

Qualifications/special skills
- At least 2 years of professional experience working in a field relevant to environmental management/science, climate change, economics, health, project management, finance, administration
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to governments and other stakeholders is required.
