**Location: Nantes, France (homebased role)**

**What we’re looking for**

Based in the Nantes area, you will carry out inspection missions on various types of ships in service, in the western region of France (from Bordeaux to Brest)

You will also have short-term assignments in our agency in Marseille, or in the Dunkirk area.

You will occasionally be able to work on more distant missions in France or abroad.

**The role**
- Deal with statutory surveys and certification and where applicable liaise with Flag or Port State Surveyors based on marine engineering and naval architecture knowledge.
- Work with international marine rules and regulations.
- Responsible for project management involving marine surveys for new construction and shipping services, and marine equipment inspection services.
- Ensure reporting in accordance with corporate requirements and timescales to achieve targets set for key performance indicators.
- Discuss/present deliverables with the external client and be able to suggest alterative solutions where appropriate.
- Assess/recommend time/value of the work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee/cost structure.
- Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal/external client feedback as appropriate.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
- Participate in and contribute to specific job training as directed.
- Coach new and basic surveyors.
- Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure that job is carried out according to budget and contractual requirements.

**What you bring**
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
- Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.
- Ability to work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
- Experience to provide technical and commercial management, e.g. project management, process management.
- Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
- Proficiency in French language is considered an advantage.
- Authorization to work in the respective country is preferred
