**Positioning and reporting**
This position is under the authority of the Deputy Director ‘International Standards and Science’ and the direct supervision of the Head of the World Animal Health Information and Analysis Department (WAHIAD) and his/her Deputy.**Job purpose**
The Animal Health Information Analyst and Translator contributes to improved transparency in the animal health situation worldwide by ensuring the publication of quality sanitary information linked to the Early Warning System of the WOAH World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS). S/he is responsible for verifying the quality of data received and editing notifications to a high standard, ensuring the harmonisation of content and form across documents. S/he participates in capacity-building activities on disease notification (training and e-learning support), and contributes to the improvement of WAHIS. Finally, s/he provides translation services to the Early Warning System, and WAHIAD, and (on occasions) to other departments within WOAH.**Missions and activities**
Contribute as required to the activities of the team:
**1- Participate in the Early Warning System of WAHIS**:

- Verify the quality of data received, from both qualitative and quantitative points of view, as well as assessing its consistency with available historical data.
- Contact the Veterinary Services as necessary to update and complete the information provided.
- Follow up with Members to encourage them to provide information regarding the evolution of ongoing events within their territories.
- Propose relevant tools to facilitate the standard verification process and follow-up processes.
- Review formats of working databases, developing automated tools within these databases to facilitate the verification and follow-up processes.
- Develop and establish monitoring and evaluation indicators of the verification and follow-up processes.**2- Oversee the communication of adequate information**:

- Proofread, copyedit and/or translate documents and reports about world animal health, the sanitary situation, epidemiology, communication, or any other activity of the Department.
- On occasion, disseminate validated documents through electronic distribution lists.**3-**
**Provide translation services**:
**4- Participate in training activities**:

- Provide support to WAHIS users.
- Participate in the preparation and design of material for training WAHIS users and WOAH Focal PointsReview and improve training methods.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of e-learning platforms.**5- Participating in activities associated with the development of WAHIS and its evolution**:

- Contribute to the development of functional specifications.
- Participate in the functional testing and validation of functionalities, providing feedback to the project management team.
- Contribute to the identification of needs and follow-up on future evolutions.**Qualifications and Experience**

- Required qualifications_
- A graduate degree (Master’s) in translation.
- At least three years of experience in copyediting and translation of scientific documents.- Desirable additional qualifications_
- Professional training in copyeditingProofreading skills.**Other Requirements**
- Technical skills_
- Excellent command of English, both written and oral.
- Proficiency in the three WOAH official languages (English, French, and Spanish).
- Very good command of the Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).- Additional desirable competencies_- Interpersonal skills_
- Leadership and proactivity.
- Keen sense of observation, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure, and to efficiently prioritise work across multiple parallel tasks.
- Courtesy, tact, and the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multinational and multicultural environment.
- Good communication skills and team working abilities especially under tight deadlines.**Working conditions**:

- Salary: Monthly base salary starting from 2500€ net per month (commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus benefits, exempt of French income tax.
- Duration: Two (2) years - Renewable.
- The post is a full-time position based at the WOAH Headquarters in Paris. It requires long hours in a seated position at a computer.**General information**
