Established in 2014, SuperGrid Institute is an independent private company with over 150 employees of 21 different nationalities. The institute is a key player for energy transition in France and throughout Europe, specialising in innovative high and medium voltage direct current (HVDC and MVDC) power systems. SuperGrid Institute also develops new technologies for the integration of renewable energies into the electricity networks of the future.
SuperGrid Institute has been ranked every year since 2018, reaching the podium 3 times in the INPI prize list.
**Contex**:
The Power Electronic and power conversion Program studies innovative topologies and technologies in MVDC and HVDC fields.
These studies include also Power Switches, Medium Frequency Transformers and the Control.
We build prototypes or demonstrators, that we test in our laboratories.
Tests can be very simple and performed manually up to more sophisticated tests. For example, play a test scenario of voltage variations on demonstrator inputs and analyze how it will react.
In this context, we wish control a DC voltage source by remote and from low analogic signals.
**Objectives / missions**:
Your main missions will be:
- Analyze the technical features of the voltage source, and particularly its control by analogic inputs
- Define a macro-scheduling including the different main stages
- Perform preliminay tests firstly
- Analyze the needs and propose an electronic control based on microcontroller and a LabView HMI
- More precisely : build a specification document dedicated to the microcontroller selection (number of Inputs/Outputs, CPU performances) and the HMI, and write a second document for the detailled design and algorithms before coding (Ex: communication protocol selection, choice of timers,)
- Study the hardware electronic board
- Realize the electronic board
- Code the microcontroller
- Perform test on the electronic board on a bench
- Realize an HMI LabView in order to fill inputs test parameters (ex: step 1 - 1V during 100ms, step 2 -1.5V during 200ms, etc )
- Test the serial communication between the electronic board and the voltage source (remote control)
- Then test according to the several scenarios written previously in a test plan
- Write test report in French/English
- Write a design document and a using manual
This internship is dedicated for a PFE (“Projet de Fin d’Etude
- ) et must be realized during 6 months. It is dedicated for a student from Engineering high school or university.
You are trained in Electrical domain with embedded electronic and have knowledge in microcontroller and coding.
Finally, you are curious, interested by the technical topics, methodical, appreciate by practical activities in laboratory, and you are comfortable with the public introductions.
Finally, you have also a good experience in writing and synthesis know-how of your work.
