The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the OECD. Both the IEA and the OECD seek opportunities to work with an increasing number of non-members of growing importance to the world economy. The Agency aims to foster the contribution of the energy sector to economic development and environmental sustainability across the globe.
**Main Responsibilities**
**Energy analysis and drafting**
- Be responsible for the analysis of capacity data and production volumes as well as techno-economic performance information and innovation needs for clean energy technologies and their components across the energy sector and its related supply chains, including in collaboration with external stakeholders.
- Draft focus sections, reports, commentaries and briefings on a particular supply chain or supply chain elements, in collaboration with other analysts and technical experts in the division.
- Contribute to the preparation of the IEA’s Energy Technology Perspectives (ETP) publication, carrying out quantitative and qualitative analysis of clean energy technologies, related supply chains and/or innovation.
- Work with other staff engaged in the analysis of topical clean energy technology issues. Provide intellectual input in developing thought leading analysis of future energy technology trends.
**Liaison and Outreach**
- Collaborate with other Divisions and Directorates in the Agency, the OECD and other national and international organisations, the energy industry, technology developers and research bodies in the analysis of the impact of clean energy technology transitions on the energy sectors and industrial base of Member and non-Member countries.
- Participate in meetings of IEA standing committees, working parties and other groups and their preparations as required; participate in relevant meetings of other international organisations; provide support for the development of reports, analyses and information items for these meetings. Hold presentations in these meetings as required.
- Maintain contacts with members of national delegations, other international organisations, representatives of industry, and other institutions involved in energy technology assessments.
- Promote the work of the IEA externally to a wide range of audiences through organising and participating in workshops, making presentations and holding bi-lateral meetings.
- Academic Background
- An advanced university degree(s) in a relevant discipline (e.g. economics, engineering, mathematics or other).
- Professional Background
- At least three to seven years' experience in applied economic and quantitative technology analysis in an energy context; prior exposure to the use and interpretation of large-scale energy models is an asset.
- A good understanding of the energy sector (production of energy, transformation, end-uses, energy policy priorities and challenges) and its supply chains.
- A good understanding of the opportunities and challenges that come with new and emerging clean energy technologies, and their interdependencies.
- Proven skills in drafting reports and other relevant written material, addressed to non-expert audience.
- Tools
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Access and Power Query.
- Good knowledge of Python, R and/or Matlab is an asset.
- Languages
- An excellent written and oral command of English. Good knowledge of other language(s) would be an asset.
