OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT), the general supervision of the Chief of the Living Heritage Entity and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist in charge of Cities and intangible cultural heritage theme, t he incumbent shall exercise the function of Associate Project Officer to support the coordination and implementation of the project ‘Strengthening capacities for resilient communities though the Sustainable Tourism and Heritage Safeguarding’ project with a special focus on aspects related to living heritage, to be implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean.

**In particular, s/he will be responsible for**:
Long Description
Provide technical input for the conceptualization and design of project activities, undertaking research, compiling results of the project in all regions where the project is implemented, and identifying experts and relevant partner institutions related to integrating the safeguarding of living heritage into the plans, policies, and programmes of the cities participating in the tourism project, utilizing community-based approaches.

Contribute to the preparation of detailed activity programming and work plans for each of the different components of the project as related to safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.

Provide substantive and organizational support to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs, facilitate meetings and workshops, and provide any support related to all activity of the project implementation process.

Monitor the implementation of all activities in accordance with the agreed work plan collaborating closely with relevant Field Offices, Permanent Delegations, National Commissions and other project counterparts, coordinate and document regular meetings, carry out work plan adjustments when appropriate.

Support and cooperate with Administrative Unit of Culture Sector to follow up and implement the project activities according to UNESCO's rules and regulations.

Long Description
Support the maintenance of strong relationships with stakeholders, partners and the donor, developing mechanisms for frequent communication with focal points in the participating UNESCO Field Offices, living heritage entities and countries.

Contribute to the communication strategy to enhance the visibility of the project, including presenting the project in meetings, exhibitions, events etc. and developing press releases, news stories, social media etc.

Contribute to the timely monitoring and reporting for the project both within UNESCO and with the external donor.

Assist with the organization of events related to the project promotion involving high-level experts, city Mayors and civil society, in particular with the identification of participants and speakers, the preparation and implementation of the events, the preparation of documents, the logístical organization and the consolidation of the outcomes and other follow-up activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) required in social sciences, urban studies, or in a related field.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years working experience in the field of culture, of which preferably at least one (1) year acquired at the international level.
Experience in drafting project documents, workplans, reports, etc.

Strong analytical and drafting skills, drafting of project reports, official documents and analysis.
Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own workplan; ability to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to edit and draft clearly and concisely.
Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a multi-cultural environment and to work effectively in a team environment.
Good IT skills, including knowledge of MS software (Word, Excel etc.).

Languages
