Director, Credit & Strategic Risk London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) – Join to apply for the Director, Credit & Strategic Risk role. Overview The Clearing House must provide robust and prudent risk management to meet its overriding objective: to provide Clearing Members with a central counterparty of the highest quality and safeguard the interests of the company's shareholders and contributors to its Clearing Funds. The Risk Department’s goal is to manage the risk appetite of the Company in a manner that is prudent, robust operationally, consistent with regulatory responsibilities, in line with the market’s highest standard, supports the company’s development initiatives, and aligns with Board expectations and Member demand. Responsibilities Ensure proper Credit Risk assessments of new and existing Clearing Members, banks, brokers, CCPs, central banks, investment and repo counterparts, funds, insurance companies, and sovereigns and supranational entities are performed efficiently. Chair the Credit Risk Working Group and drive thematic reviews and studies. Prepare and circulate continuous monitoring reports to internal stakeholders, external parties, and National Competent Authorities. Lead strategic risk oversight, including geopolitical, emerging trend and international economic dynamics studies. Oversee the Credit Risk team’s tasks: analysing new member suitability, coordinating internal committee approvals, preparing financial analyses, monitoring financial information and net capital, maintaining internal databases, producing daily monitoring reports, and organising member financial documentation. Enhance credit risk tools and liaise with risk reporting, IT and other teams to develop and implement new solutions. Provide senior management with assessments, memos and feedback on key geopolitical, economic, financial or emerging risks. Participate in cross‑functional discussions (CRWG, ERWG, MCWG) and provide credit risk opinions on new initiatives or ad hoc requests. Duration and Employment Type Full‑time employee with a permanent contract. Functional and Technical Requirements Master’s degree in Business or Engineering. At least 10 years of credit analysis experience (including financial institutions). Strong accounting and analytical skills – banks, funds, insurance, sovereigns. Deep knowledge of various entity types: banks, non‑banks financial institutions, funds, insurance companies, sovereigns, etc. Good understanding of economic, geopolitical, international and financial contexts. Capacity to perform detailed studies presented to senior executives. Good understanding of CCP challenges. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, VBA. Personal Skills Highly motivated, proactive, strong leadership skills. Team‑oriented; ability to work with diverse internal teams. Excellent communication with senior partners, NCAs, Board members. Strong social skills for smooth cross‑team discussions. Good written and oral English – required for reviews, studies and committee presentations. Deep understanding of the firm’s challenges and business dynamics. Detail‑oriented, problem‑solving mindset. Strong analytical, quantitative and organisational skills.
