Bonitasoft is on a mission to transform Bonita Studio, our Eclipse-based process modeling environment, into a modern web-based Studio. We need you, a curious, growth-minded Backend Engineer who embraces AI-assisted development and wants to grow while helping us navigate the legacy, evolve the present, and co-create the future. The Product Your primary focus will be Bonita Studio, our integrated development environment with a rich modeling stack. You’ll also work across the entire Bonita stack: runtime engine, REST APIs, and platform ecosystem, contributing to Studio’s evolution with autonomy and impact. What’s in it for you ? Key responsibilities Help build our AI-driven engineering culture. Use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to explore complex codebases, learn faster, and deliver quality software. Your insights will guide how we adopt and improve these tools as a team. Work with Maven, builds, performance, and legacy patterns. AI will be your ally to learn and solve problems efficiently while deepening your technical expertise. Join the mission to rebuild Bonita Studio as a modern web-based tool. Contribute to backend architecture and make smart, system-level decisions across the full Bonita stack. Your first 6 months Month 1: First commits, getting oriented in Studio and the broader Bonita stack (using AI tools to accelerate learning) Month 4 (end of Trial): Growing autonomy on Studio components, contributing across the platform with increasing confidence Month 6: Solid contributor to the new Studio's backend vision, comfortable working across the full stack, demonstrating effective AI-assisted development techniques Year 1: Confident contributor on Studio and the Bonita platform, actively participating in building the new architecture, and an active participant in defining our AI-assisted development culture What sets you apart You combine technical depth with the ability to work seamlessly across teams, using AI as a powerful ally while maintaining independent, critical judgment. Core Technical Skills Strong Java and Maven experience, comfortable troubleshooting builds. Experience with large-scale or legacy systems, from code to architecture. Hands-on with migration or refactoring projects. Fluent in French and English. AI-Assisted Development Regular user of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot). Critical thinker, leveraging AI for prototyping, refactoring, and testing. Eager to share insights and shape team best practices. Interpersonal Skills Proactive, clear, and collaborative communicator. Comfortable in remote, async environments. Curious, with a growth mindset.
