About The Role As a part of our Global Hygiene Category organization, we are searching for a Material Development Engineer Liquids and lotions to join our Chemical Formulations material development team within R&D Tissue Core. The Global Hygiene Category leads Essity's hygiene brand portfolio and delivers brand development and innovation for our three business areas: Incontinence Care, Consumer Goods, and Professional Hygiene. The Material Development Engineer is responsible for managing the material development in the defined material area(s) in close cooperation with suppliers and other appropriate internal and external parties. The Chemical formulations area will deliver across all categories within our three business areas. What You Will Do As part of a team, participate in product upgrade or new product work and cost‑save initiatives within the defined material area. Lead projects with limited complexity. Select ingredients and participate in formulation work at laboratory scale. In conjunction with Categories, respective Material / Product Development stakeholders, and in alignment with Sourcing, recommend material optimisation(s) as well as suitable suppliers. Participate and drive the required adaptations of existing materials in cooperation with suppliers; secure close collaboration with relevant Material Development colleagues. Plan and execute necessary tests to secure product performance and acceptance in the frame MDT projects and tasks; analyse results and recommend implementation. Secure recommended product specifications from the material development activities. Propose recommended product specification(s) from the material development activities. Work closely with the Product and Material Development Managers to monitor Essity's and competitor's materials; identify trends in the industry to drive product upgrade opportunities. Participate in establishing new material specifications. Who You Are University Degree or equivalent within a relevant practice (such as chemistry or pharmacy, with a specialization in formulation for cosmetics, biocides, etc.). Proven material development capabilities and skills. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the relevant technical field, including practical experience of cosmetic formulations. Ideally experience from both R&D and operations. International exposure. Demonstrated networking capabilities, internally as well as in cooperation with external suppliers. Fluent in English, both written and oral. Ability to travel. Good knowledge of chemical formulations. This role may also be filled from our R&D centres located in Latam.
