Eugene is a startup spun out of 4elements studio, building decision-making software to accelerate industrial decarbonisation at scale. Our goal is to help industrial players move from static planning (spreadsheets / engineering studies) to dynamic models capable of evaluating hundreds or even thousands of scenarios and optimising complex investment decisions.Our priority verticals include: steel, cement, waste, chemicals, aluminium, utilities (and heavy industry more broadly).The MissionAs Tech Co-founder / CTO, you will take ownership of designing and building the platform (tech, product, data, AI) that enables Eugene to:rapidly model complex industrial processes and emerging technologiesincorporate local/regional specifics, macro assumptions, and evolving economic & regulatory contextsaccurately evaluate costs, performance, payback, and identify the most relevant solutionsprovide a unified, collaborative environment to align all stakeholdersResponsibilitiesProduct & TechnologyDefine the technical vision and drive the MVP → v1 (roadmap, trade-offs, priorities)Build the core technology for industrial process modellingDevelop and productionise AI/model components (optimisation, active learning / scenario iteration, uncertainty estimation)Design the architecture (SaaS, security, scalability)Set up the data platform: ingestion, quality, lineage/traceability, “live” modelsImplement a pragmatic MLOps approach (testing, monitoring, reproducibility)Execution & TeamHire and structure the early tech team and establish scientific partnerships with leading research labsWork closely with the studio team on strategy, partnerships, and early customersDomain ExpertiseTranslate on-the-ground industrial process challenges into product/tech requirements (data, constraints, workflows)Candidate ProfileMust-have10+ years of experience (ideally 15–20) across industrial process modelling and software/data/AIStrong understanding of industrial decarbonisation processes (at least one of our verticals) and ability to work with industrial expertsExcellent applied data science / AI skills (modelling, optimisation, pipelines, validation)Hands-on builder: you can code / prototype / unblock, while also shaping a long-term product visionNice-to-haveBackground in heavy industry, energy, process engineering—especially simulationExperience with B2B SaaS, decision platforms, multi-scenario analysis toolsStartup experience (0→1), co-founding, or tech leadership in high-uncertainty environmentsWhy JoinBuild a product at the heart of industrial decarbonisation decisions, in high-impact marketsSolve “real-world” problems: multiple technologies, uncertainty, local constraints, shifting market/policy conditionsTrue co-founder role: autonomy, ownership, direct impact on product and strategyLocation📍 France or Europe — remote-friendlyCompensationCo-founder package: meaningful equity + terms depending on stage and funding (to be defined together)ApplySend a message including:your background + 2–3 representative projects (industry / data / AI / platform)what you want to build at Eugene (and why now) #J-18808-Ljbffr
