Data Protection Engineer Cohesity & Veritas NetBackupJob Openings Data Protection Engineer Cohesity & Veritas NetBackupAbout the job Data Protection Engineer Cohesity & Veritas NetBackupData Protection Engineer Cohesity & Veritas NetBackupDesigning, deploying, and managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions with Cohesity and Veritas NetBackupPosition OverviewWe are looking for a seasoned Data Protection Engineer with strong expertise in Cohesity and Veritas NetBackup platforms to deliver end-to-end backup and recovery services for enterprise workloads, including virtualized, physical, and cloud environments. This role involves consulting on data protection strategies, implementing best practices, and ensuring high availability and security of critical business data.You will work closely with infrastructure, storage, and security teams to ensure resilient, compliant, and efficient backup operations.Key ResponsibilitiesBackup Platform AdministrationInstall, configure, and administer Cohesity DataProtect and Veritas NetBackup solutionsDevelop and manage backup policies, schedules, and retention rules for virtual machines, databases, file systems, and cloud workloadsMonitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and perform capacity planning for storage targetsConduct patch management, upgrades, and performance tuning of backup infrastructureProvide expert consulting on data protection best practices, including backup architecture design, data lifecycle management, and disaster recovery planningCollaborate with application owners, cloud architects, and compliance officers to align backup strategies with business needs and regulatory requirementsEvaluate and recommend enhancements to backup and recovery workflows for automation and efficiencyRecovery & TestingPlan and execute restore operations ranging from file-level recovery to full disaster recovery drillsValidate recovery procedures and perform regular backup integrity and restore testsSupport ransomware recovery and cyber resilience initiatives leveraging immutability and air-gapped storage featuresSecurity & ComplianceImplement role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and audit logging within backup environmentsEnsure backup operations comply with standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2Produce reports on backup success rates, capacity usage, and compliance for managementRequired Qualifications6+ years of hands-on experience administering Cohesity DataProtect and Veritas NetBackup platformsStrong knowledge of backup and recovery concepts across physical, virtual (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure)Experience with scripting or automation tools to enhance backup workflows (PowerShell, Python, REST APIs)Familiarity with storage technologies (SAN, NAS, object storage) and backup targetsPreferred QualificationsCertifications such as Cohesity Certified Engineer and/or Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS)Experience integrating backup solutions with SIEM, ITSM, and orchestration toolsKnowledge of ransomware protection, data immutability, and cyber vault strategiesUnderstanding of compliance frameworks and disaster recovery methodologiesAbility to work in hybrid IT environments combining on-premises and cloud workloads #J-18808-Ljbffr
