MaiaSpace aims to be the first end-to-end space mobility company to actively remove debris after satellite deployment, with the vision that "Each time we fly, we clean."Active debris removal is essential for European institutional actors like CNES, ESA, and the European Commission to prevent Kessler syndrome. Recent missions such as ESA's CAT and ERASE highlight the complexity of these tasks, requiring the best talents to address these challenges and promote sustainable space operations.Orbital Vehicle System EngineerWe are seeking a system engineer to join our agile, multidisciplinary team working on the MaiaSpace Colibri orbital vehicle. This vehicle has multiple roles:Initially serving as a kickstage (third stage of a launcher) to enhance performance and injection flexibility.Adding functionalities for multi-plane constellation deployments and in-orbit services, including active debris removal. The vehicle is at the intersection of a launcher and a satellite.We need you hereYour main responsibilities will include:Performing functional analysis, system trade-offs, CONOPS definition, design synthesis, and architecture selection based on mission requirements, performance, and risk.Leading the definition of the end-to-end preliminary architecture, covering structures, power, thermal, propulsion, avionics, attitude control, and data handling.Collaborating with subsystem leads to ensure proper integration and compatibility of all platform elements.Participating in the incremental development roadmap of Colibri, including ground and flight demonstrations, with flights expected 5 to 10 times annually from 2027.Identifying and evaluating new technologies for platform evolution.Contributing to short-term hiring plans.Fostering strategic technology partnerships and engaging with customers.Qualifications:Degree in Aeronautics & Space Engineering (+5 years post-Baccalaureate) with at least 10 years of experience.Experience in spacecraft system engineering.Strong expertise in at least one of these areas: satellite mechanical and thermal architecture, robotics, guidance navigation and control, attitude and orbit control systems, visual navigation, operations, or orbital mechanics.Ability to work in a team and adapt to a start-up environment.Autonomy, rigor, good communication skills, proactive problem-solving, solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to propose innovative ideas.Working at MaiaSpace:Join a friendly, multidisciplinary team following Agile and Scrum methodologies.
