Cloud Support Engineer Company: Canonical Join an open‑source technology company that provides Ubuntu to the global enterprise and technology markets. We are looking for a Cloud Support Engineer to support customers leveraging Ubuntu and open‑source products. Location This is a globally remote role unless specified otherwise. Role Overview We regularly solve complex cloud environment issues, Linux kernel crashes, OS configuration problems, and root‑cause analysis. The role will involve: Investigating issues reported by customers, researching and escalating where necessary. Resolving complex customer problems related to Canonical’s portfolio of products. Owning the result: ensure support cases meet our Service Level Agreement with the highest possible customer satisfaction. Engaging directly with customers via phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions. Participating in a regular weekend working rotation. Contributing new knowledge‑base articles and maintaining existing ones. Understanding Ubuntu development processes to set realistic timelines for fixes. Qualifications Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. Strong academic track record. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path. Track record of exceeding expectations. Hands‑on experience supporting Linux systems, including at least three of: Virtualization/cloud (KVM/OpenStack) Containers (Docker, LXD/LXC, Kubernetes) Storage technologies (block, object, network) Networking (bonding, firewalling, bridging, switching, NFS tuning, MTU issues, etc.) Cloud computing experience in provisioning, monitoring, and orchestration. Advanced troubleshooting experience: integration of Linux with other environments, analyzing stack traces and logs, distinguishing between OS and application bugs. Programming fundamentals in any language. Extensive customer support experience focused on customer needs and communication. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for events up to two weeks.
