Tech teams play a crucial role in achieving this goal, and senior engineering managers help scale and mentor squads while influencing product strategy. Team and Context The tech team is split into more than 40 squads, each led by an Engineering Manager collaborating with a PM and Product Designer. Managers oversee 5–8 developers (frontend, backend, full stack). As we grow, we need a senior engineering manager to drive mentorship and process across squads. Reporting directly to one of our Co‑Founders & CTO (Quentin), the Senior Engineering Manager will manage several Engineering Managers daily (manager‑of‑managers). You’ll collaborate closely with a Group Product Manager, Product Design Manager, and other Senior Engineering Managers. Pennylane is based in Paris but the tech team is remote‑first. The team meets in Paris every four months during “Pennylane Tech & Product Days.” What You Can Expect From Your Life At Pennylane Within one month Learn everything about the company, teams, and vision during the first onboarding week. Complete common tech onboarding training on application, accounting concepts, and coding practices. Collaborate with product managers to uphold quality and efficiency standards while fostering a positive team mood. Identify developers’ strengths and improvement areas to support their growth. Work with other Engineering Managers to set appropriate processes as the team expands. Within 3–6 months Become comfortable within your track perimeter, people, and best practices. Provide leadership within Pennylane’s senior tech community. Help senior developers grow by identifying strengths and improvement areas. Contribute to cross‑team or transversal initiatives with the potential for large impact. Participate in scaling the Pennylane application from 700k+ customers to infinity. Recruitment Process General chat with Thomas (Senior Technical Recruiter) – 30 min. Interview with one of our Tech Co‑Founders (Quentin or Thierry) – 1 h. System design interview with a staff engineer (Emilie or Guillaume) + Head of Data (Thomas) – 1 h 15 min live (no preparation needed). Product discussion with two product & design team members – 1 h. Final round with two Senior Engineering Managers to deep‑dive into management skills – 1 h. We move fast; the process typically lasts between 15 and 25 days.
