Product Manager – Cloud Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with 1,200+ colleagues in 75+ countries and very few office‑based roles. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person in interesting locations around the world to align on strategy and execution. Canonical’s product management team are technologists who are passionate about delivering products that shape market demands while elevating open source software everywhere. This is an application track for a product management position at Canonical on Cloud Native. Responsibilities Lead the lifecycle of the product development by reviewing priorities and goals for the products you are responsible for. Work closely with engineering leads to oversee the product development process. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing, and sales to align priorities and keep business execution on track. Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities and ensure alignment with Canonical’s vision. Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and training. Establish KPIs for project status reporting and communicate them across Canonical. Drive execution excellence through continuous feedback and improvement. Contribute to the development of strategies to create and maintain high‑performing teams. Contribute to the success of our sales team in winning new opportunities, by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings. Qualifications Seasoned product‑management experience in technical domains related to the usage and/or management of open‑source software in the cloud‑native landscape. Experience designing or managing software operations for large‑scale distributed systems. Strong understanding of cloud‑native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker containers. Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise security and compliance requirements in software operations. Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive their execution to excellence. Passion to write about technologies and experience in developer marketing. Strong work ethic and personal interests aligned with the open‑source philosophy. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events. Nice‑to‑Have Skills Experience with CNCF projects, identity, or observability systems. Insatiable intellectual curiosity and passion for the future of technology. Strong sense of ownership; responsibility for all parts of the product’s and team’s success. Problem‑solving ability, out‑of‑the‑box thinking, and visionary leadership.
