Our global team is made up of five specialist areas: Forecasting, Trading, Risk, PPA, and Engineering.Engineering – building and running the global technical platform that powers our processes. The Engineering sub-team maintains the platform, innovates, and creates robust systems that keep trading operations running smoothly. We’re looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join us. You’ll work across teams, use a variety of coding languages, explain technical processes clearly, and build scalable solutions that support data growth. Experience with trading systems, data flows, and EU electricity and gas markets will help us grow internationally.ResponsibilitiesMaintaining and developing our data platform infrastructure, helping team members debug and resolve live issues while growing a self-service suite of monitoring toolsDriving long-term robustness and scalability of trading processes supporting global growthSetting up and maintaining processes for capturing, preparing and loading valuable new data into the data lakeHelping trading, forecasting, risk and PPA teams to optimise key operational pipelines while taking responsibility for process maintenanceDeveloping automations and alerts to quickly debug where pipelines are failing or showing unprecedented trendsWorking with international teams across the Octopus Energy Group to ensure everyone shares best practices and code is standardised where possibleWhat you’ll haveStrong experience in platform infrastructure development with Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform/OpenTofu IAC, Postgres, CDC systems and DockerPassion for enabling self-service platform monitoring using Datadog, Grafana and PrometheusExpertise with SQL and Python as core data languagesSolid experience with Django and WSGI (desirable)Experience with Airflow, Spark, dbt, JupyterSkilled at shaping needs into a solid set of requirements and designing scalable solutionsTeam player with ownership across multiple projects and toolsPassion for driving towards Net ZeroDrives knowledge sharing and documentation for a more effective platformOpen to travelling to Octopus offices across Europe and the USWhy you’ll love it hereSalary is discussed on a call with a recruiter to ensure the right match for your experience; Octopus has flexibility and focuses on finding the right fit rather than fixed advertised salariesOctopus Energy Group has a unique culture with autonomy and ownership on innovative projects; recognised as a great place to work and to develop leadershipA podcast about our culture and how we empower our people is available from the Group CEOTop 10 company for senior leadershipLocation: For this role we are looking for someone who would be happy to work in the Paris office 2-3 days a week.Our process usually takes up to 4 weeks, but we’ll flex around what works for you.
