As part of the Platform team, you’ll be responsible for the architecture, deployment and operations of our database systems across both cloud and on-premise environments. Beyond core DBA tasks, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to broader infrastructure and DevOps topics, including service architecture and platform reliability.Main responsibilitiesThe tasks for the Staff Database Engineer include, but are not limited to, the followingOperate, optimize and modernize our Mysql database platforms across hybrid environments, spanning both cloud-native and on-premise infrastructures.Drive high availability, reliability, and security of production databases through automated monitoring, dynamic scaling, proactive alerting, and continuous health assessments, with a strong focus on observability and operational excellence.Participate in the on-call program to provide application support, handle incident management, and troubleshoot production issuesCollaborate with backend developers to optimize queries, indexes, and schema design, while continuously improving the architecture and deepening your understanding of the global systemPlan and execute platform upgrades to meet evolving use cases and workloads (capacity planning, storage choices), while automating recurring tasks such as maintenance and repairsContribute to knowledge sharing through procedure documentation and team training, and stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in databases and infrastructureQualifications4+ years professional experience on large-scale web platforms, ideally in an Agile environment.Strong knowledge administering MySQL, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resolving complex database issues using native toolsStrong knowledge of indexing, statistics, backup/recovery models, and experience implementing operational automation through scripts and routinesEstablished experience in Cloud Computing, with knowledge of modern database technologies offered by major cloud providers (e.g., AWS RDS …) and a proven track record of leading or contributing to On-Premise to Cloud migration projects, driving cloud adoption and database modernization initiatives.Understanding of Linux system administration and container orchestration, particularly KubernetesProficiency in at least one programming language (ideally Python or Go), familiarity with Git and common development tools (CI/CD, code review workflows, debugging and testing tools)A strong interest in systems security, with a focus on implementing best practices to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of systems.
