Reporting to the Senior Medical Director France Benelux, the Associate Medical Director France role is customer‑facing, leading a field‑based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team, and strategically supporting the launch of CYTK products in France. As national lead of a team of scientific professionals, the Associate Medical Director will serve as a key field‑based scientific resource for healthcare providers, patients, industry partners, and internal colleagues. The role involves field medical operations, supporting clinical trials, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to execute the medical strategy and provide insight relevant to France and Europe. Responsibilities Subject matter expert in HCM disease state and its management in France, including aficamten and its competitors. In collaboration with the Senior Medical Director, strategize the country medical affairs plan and implement a field Medical Affairs vision aligned with corporate strategies. Lead field medical operations; participate in KOL/HCP development, engagement, and support early and late‑stage clinical trials in the region. Lead field medical launch planning for aficamten, a cardiac myosin inhibitor for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM): Ensure the MSL team is continually trained on emerging aficamten data presented at congresses and scientific publications; incorporate data into the MSL communication plan. Foster a compliant, cross‑functional, customer‑centric team approach statewide as Cytokinetics transitions from R&D to a commercial organization. Manage and mentor the MSL team, providing strong leadership to meet and exceed KPIs: Communicate national and local goals, objectives, and KPIs clearly. Support the team’s efforts by promoting collaboration within the team, across working groups, and with customers. Guide engagement of KOLs and expert cardiologists in the field and with internal stakeholders. Maintain relationships with scientific leaders to develop therapeutic ideas related to HCM and HF; coordinate investigator‑initiated studies. Establish and maintain a CRM system in France; serve as its responsible person. Ensure compliance with corporate and healthcare guidelines for scientific interactions, unsolicited requests, and external research discussions. Collect insights from the field and sensitize MSLs on competitive intelligence. Facilitate training strategies for disease state and pipeline products to enhance team knowledge. Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in cardiovascular medicine. Serve as a scientific resource to internal functions, including cross‑functional teams as required. Collaborate with Medical Affairs and other departments on congress planning, medical information, publications, education, and speaker training. Train and organize the MSL team to support congress activities such as booth duty, scientific session coverage, KOL engagement, and competitive intelligence collection. Plan and lead French advisory boards to gather feedback on study design, clinical trial data, and medical education. Provide medical input and support to commercial and market access activities in France. Travel regularly as required region‑wide and globally for business needs. Work closely with Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, Market Access, and Pharmacovigilance. Ensure the needs of healthcare professionals and key customers in France are understood and addressed promptly and compliantly. Qualifications Advanced medical or scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD). 10+ years at Medical Affairs Manager/Associate Director level in pharma/biotech. Demonstrated leadership in managing/coordinating field‑based medical teams or MSLs. Experience in cardiology or related specialties and/or rare cardiovascular diseases. Launch experience/expertise, preferably in specialty care. Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, regulatory environment, and medical practices within France. Excellent communication and presentation skills in French and English. Proven expertise in KOL engagement, medical strategy, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Proven ability to build relationships with KOLs and HCPs. Ability to manage multiple priorities and time efficiently. High ethical standards and familiarity with compliance guidelines in medical affairs. Self‑direction, initiative, and accountability. Adaptable to remote work and changing environments. Ability to travel nationally and internationally within the EU or globally. Experience with Veeva or another CRM system. Our employees come from diverse backgrounds.
