Pixid is entering an ambitious transformation phase and is looking for the next builders of this change. The platform is highly configurable and used by multiple international stakeholders, making the challenge particularly stimulating. We're seeking an experienced Backend Architect to lead our architectural transformation from monolithic to microservices architecture. You'll be instrumental in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and maintainable backend systems while guiding our engineering teams through complex technical migrations.ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Leadership: Design and implement microservices architecture patterns to strategically strangle our monolithic application, ensuring smooth transition with minimal business disruptionIdentity & Security: Architect and implement OAuth2/OpenID Connect authentication flows, integrate with Identity Providers (IdP), and establish secure service-to-service communication patternsDatabase Migration: Lead the migration strategy from MariaDB to PostgreSQL, including data modeling, performance optimization, and zero-downtime migration planningEvent-Driven Architecture: Design and implement event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, to support asynchronous business processes, ensuring reliable message deliveryTechnical Mentorship: Guide development teams in Java/Spring best practices, micro-services patterns, and architectural decision-makingStandards & Governance: Establish architectural standards, API design guidelines, and technical documentation practices8+ years of backend development experience with at least 3 years in architect roleExpert-level proficiency in Java and Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Security)Proven experience in monolith-to-microservices transformation using strangle the monolith patternDeep understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and modern IdP integration (Keycloak, Auth0, Okta, Gravitee, …)Hands-on experience with database migration projects, specifically MariaDB to PostgreSQL and materialized viewStrong expertise in Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture patternsExperience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platformsSolid understanding of distributed systems, and consistency patternsNice to HaveKnowledge of Domain-Driven Design and hexagonal architectureExperience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)HR ScreeningTechnical Interview with the Head of EngineeringHome Case studyCulture fit interview with HRD and CTOOfferReady to leave your mark on the transformation of a strong, market-established SaaS?
