Lead Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems Apply for the Lead Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems role at Canonical. Our global team spans 80+ countries and focuses on collaborative, remote‑first delivery. The Commercial Systems unit consists of six engineering teams that work closely with business and engineering stakeholders. As a Lead Python Software Engineer you will help deliver high‑quality, Python‑based solutions in the Integrations team. Integrations team focus The Integrations team automates SaaS user management, onboarding of data sources to the data mesh, and tracks spend across the application portfolio. They integrate internal and external data sources using open‑source ETL solutions. Location This role is remote, based in the EMEA region. Role responsibilities Develop engineering solutions leveraging Python. Collaborate with colleagues on technical designs and code reviews. Deploy and operate services developed by the team. Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to junior engineers. Develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices. Qualifications Exceptional academic track record from high school to university. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject, or a compelling alternative narrative. Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results. Experience with software development in Python. Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks). Nice‑to‑have skills Performance engineering and security experience. Experience with Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino.
