CPU Physical Implementation Intern

Job Overview Meeting Area, Frequency, and Power requirements with a reasonable runtime is one of most meaningful activities we encounter when developing CPUs. As part of the CPU physical implementation team, interns will be given ownership of an investigation topic directly related to CPU development. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about processor development. We will provide one subject per student, and will allocate a dedicated expert engineer to follow the progress of each intern. What could you be doing as a Physical Implementation Intern? Several subjects will be available focusing on frequency, area and power analysis and improvement. Interns will be responsible for investigating one specific topic under tutor supervision as well as sharing their findings through regular presentations to the team and reports. Qualifications Are students in their last year of Masters (BAC+5 or equivalent) and available for a 5 to 6-month internship Are studying electronic engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or other relevant field Have a keen curiosity of CPU and digital systems Possess an understanding of computer architecture fundamentals and familiarity with digital design concepts and Power/Performance/Area trade-off Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and creativity Can communicate ideas effectively and good interpersonal and teamwork skills Desirable qualities Exposure to synthesis, place and route tools and techniques. Familiarity with a hardware description language such as VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog. Familiarity with versioning environment such a git, linux environment and shell programming/scripting, for example. bash, git, or make. French Law requires students to complete an internship agreement (Convention de Stage). This is a tripartite agreement signed by the student, their home university and host organization, that facilitates an internship in France. It is the contract defining all the essential points of the internship: duration, missions, remuneration and benefits, insurance in the event of an accident, etc. It is preferable that Arm's own template of the agreement is used. Successful applicants will be required to provide contact details of the appropriate university representatives in order to have the agreement signed.
