Senior Software Engineer - AI Code Gen - Agent Engineer role at Datadog We’re a new team building AI‑assisted tools to make Datadog developers more effective by autonomously generating tests, fixing bugs, and improving performance. We’re looking for a product‑mindful generalist to rapidly define and ship products that make all Datadog customers 10x developers. What You’ll Do Work closely with users, designers, PMs, and data scientists on cutting‑edge LLM‑based agents. Develop prompts, evals, and agent tools to work with code, and build engineering for productionizing these systems and integrating them with Datadog products. Prototype for real‑world utility, iterate closely with users, and ship. Stay current on research around LLM prompting, agents, and code editing. Collaborate with other Datadog teams to expand capabilities, e.g., integrating with Datadog IDE extensions to deliver a CoPilot‑like assistant, or Dynamic Instrumentation to gather runtime data from production and pre‑production environments. Who You Are You are a backend engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience in Go, Java, or Python, valuing code simplicity and performance. You’ve shipped software that uses LLMs to production. You’re passionate about Generative AI and its potential to make software engineers more productive. You have relevant experience with large language models, large‑scale systems, datasets, machine learning, or adjacent fields. You can drive hard technical conversations toward pragmatic solutions as a community ambassador. You want to work in a fast, high‑growth startup environment that respects engineers and customers. You have experience writing developer tools (IDEs, static code analysis tools, or compilers). Datadog values people from all walks of life.
