The team focus is on fundamental credit analysis of both regulated and unregulated Utilities businesses in EMEA across the gas, electricity, waste and water sectors.The ImpactThe successful candidate will assume direct analytical responsibility for a portfolio of credits in the region conducting meetings with management preparing the analysis and presenting a rating recommendation to the committee. They will also be expected to contribute to the group's research and other publishing efforts including cooperation with other groups within S&P Global Ratings.What You Stand to GainA diverse mix of analytical challenges;Take the lead on sectorial or regional publications;Cooperation with analysts across EMEA;Interact with large utilities top management teams;Work on exciting projects related to criteria development.Responsibilities and ImpactManage and maintain surveillance on a rating portfolio of credits and support the team in its day-to-day activities notably data gathering activities.Perform credit analysis demonstrating the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect issue and issuer credit ratings through the application of the relevant S&P Global Ratings criteria.Lead new transaction and issuer ratings analysis and deliver outcomes in a timely, orderly and insightful manner.Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues.Take responsibility for ratings as a primary analyst. Take the lead on meetings and interact with senior management of issuers to obtain information upon which to base credit rating decisions.Prepare the rating committee documentation present findings and opinions to a credit rating committee.Prepare a variety of material suitable for publication on S&P Global Ratings credit portal and other media (such as rating trends reports press releases and detailed commentaries) sufficient to disseminate and explain our ratings on a timely basis.Support the team in its day to day activities notably data gathering activities.Share specific analytical expertise any useful know how and ideas to improve group operations.Maintain integrity of analytical or compliance related databases as appropriate.All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.What We’re Looking ForBasic Required Qualifications :Have strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts. An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 3-5 years of experience.Be numerate and accurate with figures and detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy whilst complying with deadlines.Be proficient at working with financial models.Be educated to degree level in a relevant business-related field.Fluency in English (written and verbal) along with fluent French language skills.The capability to navigate and engage in challenging conversations with clarity and empathy.The ability to work both independently and within a team environment is critical.Be willing to travel sometimes at short notice.Additional Preferred Qualifications :Knowledge of the Utilities or Infrastructure sector would be desirable.A relevant Masters degree CFA or financial qualification would be desirable.Ability to speak another European language for example Spanish would be desirable.Equal Opportunity EmployerS&P Global is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race / ethnicity color religion sex sexual orientation gender identity national origin age disability marital status military veteran status unemployment status or any other status protected by law.
