About the roleFor an important mission with a major Life Sciences client, you will join a project team to design and deploy RAG pipelines that deliver reliable, cited and auditable answers based on sensitive and unstructured business content.Your role is key to building solutions that are robust, high‑quality and aligned with regulatory requirements, working closely with Data, AI and LLMOps teams.You will join the Cognizant Data & AI practice.→ This position can be based in Paris or Lyon→ This is a permanent position (CDI)Your responsibilitiesRetrieval & Index DesignWork on full document pipelines: ingestion, cleaning, chunking, embeddings, and vector store managementTune search engines (BM25, Hybrid, FAISS, HNSW) and apply techniques such as MMR and reranking to improve precision and relevancePrompting & OrchestrationBuild clear and stable prompt flows: templates, guardrails, context‑assembly strategies and routersUse agents and workflows (LangChain / LangGraph) to support multi‑turn conversations and improve answer qualityGrounding & CitationsProduce answers with verifiable citations and manage sensitivity levels of the contentImplement reliable methods to reduce hallucinations and prevent prompt‑injection attacksEvaluation & QualityDefine evaluation methods to measure factuality, accuracy, latency and acceptance criteriaUse observability tools, error taxonomies and A/B tests to ensure constant qualitySecurity & ComplianceApply security rules (RBAC/ABAC), sensitivity labels, audit logging best practices, and ensure compliance with GDPR and Life Sciences regulationsCost & Latency OptimizationImprove pipeline performance: context window management, caching strategies, model selection and cost control (embeddings, generation)Production DeploymentWork with LLMOps teams to secure deployments: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, canary/rollback strategies and incident playbooksProfileUniversity degree or engineering school in computer science, mathematics, data science or similar. A specialization in AI, NLP or Big Data is a plusAt least 5 years of experience in NLP, information retrieval or data pipelines, with strong learning abilitySolid experience in IR/NLP: embeddings, hybrid search, rerankingGood knowledge of LangChain / LangGraph, Azure/OpenAI and vector databases (FAISS, Chroma, Elastic, OpenSearch)Skills in prompt engineering and context engineeringVery good Python skills and experience with evaluation tools (metrics, logs)Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS VPC is a plus)Nice to haveExperience with Graph‑RAG, agent patterns or MCP integrationsExperience in regulated environments (Life Sciences, pharma)Curiosity and ability to learn new frameworks quicklyWork modelHybrid model: 3 days per week onsite at the client site or at a Cognizant office.
