Senior Software Engineer – Python/MongoDB We’re enabling high‑performing, rock‑solid MongoDB deployments on any cloud or platform our customers choose. We want to create the world’s best open‑source analog to MongoDB Atlas or Amazon DocumentDB, which can be owned, controlled, and operated by end‑users on their own multi‑cloud or on‑premise environments. Canonical is looking for an experienced Python developer with a background in MongoDB who will help us build a fully managed MongoDB solution using Juju. Our goal is to build the most reliable and secure way to deploy and operate MongoDB on machines, VMs, public cloud, and Kubernetes. The MongoDB team is small, so you will be a key contributor and your work will have a significant impact on the product and the broader ecosystem. Responsibilities Build, maintain, and improve a fully managed MongoDB solution using Python and Juju. Design and implement deployment, scaling, high‑availability, and security features for MongoDB on various infrastructures. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, mission‑critical software. Automate infrastructure deployment and operations with modern IaC and Linux administration tools. Write automated tests and maintain testing pipelines. Qualifications Strong senior‑level Python programming experience. Experience operating and managing MongoDB clusters. Background in infrastructure automation, container orchestration, or Linux system administration. Passion for quality, automated testing, and continuous integration. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Kubernetes is a plus. Benefits & Culture Work with some of the industry’s pioneers in open source.
