Overview Satellite/Platform Resident Expert [Freelance] at Novaspace. This role is intended for a freelance third-party consultant, with on-site presence at satellite/platform unit manufacturer facilities or launch base when requested. Job Objective Responsible for supporting the definition, design, development and oversight of the satellite program in the area of Satellite/Platform, ensuring timely delivery and compliance of the spacecraft bus and associated subsystems, coherence to system budgets, and overall interfacing of the spacecraft subsystems. Reports to PMO Director (Customer Program Management Office). Locations Satellite/Platform unit manufacturer facilities / Launch base when requested (on-site presence required). Key Accountabilities Leadership: Ensure the effective achievement of functional objectives as part of the PMO Satellite/Platform engineering team. Engage with the manufacturer to develop an open and collaborative spirit and ensure continuing dedication of the manufacturer’s team. Monitoring the program: Provide full and continuous monitoring of the Manufacturer's activities for the Customer satellite/platform, including day-to-day design development, unit industrialization, service module and satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Activities at platform & satellite level; assess performance against specifications, identify non-compliances early, and highlight any issues affecting the program schedule. Guidance and liaison: Provide guidance to the PMO Director on satellite/platform issues and liaise with the Space Segment Engineering section, which retains the Design Authority for the spacecraft, on changes, modifications or waivers affecting the platform/satellite. Team alignment: Work closely with PMO team members to ensure the whole team stays informed of developments in the Platform area that may impact their areas. Activities: Prepare and participate in platform unit design, manufacturing and testing review meetings; platform subsystem design, manufacturing and testing review meetings; satellite system design, manufacturing and testing review meetings; and launch campaign, LEOP and Platform In-Orbit Test Campaign. Management Reports: Produce accurate progress reports to provide timely feedback on the progress of the Satellite/Platform Design and AIT campaign. Performance Indicators Timely response to actions Quality and reliability of advice and recommendations Quality of oral and written reporting Communications & Working Relationships External: Manufacturer Internal: PMO Team, Customer Technical Team Qualifications, Experience & Skills Minimum qualifications: MS Engineering certification or equivalent (Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, etc.). Minimum experience: 15 years or more managing AIT programs, either on a manufacturer’s or a customer’s assignment; extensive satellite/platform system design and AIT experience; extensive project management experience.
