About the RoleThis role offers an experienced building operation professional a unique chance to apply skills in a meaningful way, collaborating with the KCAC Operations and Maintenance Supervisor and other Engineers. The incumbent will evaluate current procedures, develop and implement a strategic maintenance plan, manage capital improvement projects, and support world‑class events with minimal disruption to programming.About the TeamThe Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center (WKCAC) hosts a highly active competition schedule, including televised national and international events. Learn more about our commitment at http://www.kingcounty.gov/equity.What You Will Be DoingTroubleshoot and perform major and specialized maintenance on HVAC units, pumps, heat exchangers, variable speed drives, and whole‑building infrastructure.Build, maintain and repair specialized event systems—layout, media displays, sound systems, network communications, live data feeds—to support event directors, announcers, officials, and major media outlets.Perform maintenance and repairs on Swiss Omega timing systems.Maintain positive working relationships with local and state Health Departments, the City of Federal Way, and other governing agencies to ensure code compliance.Qualifications You BringJourney‑level knowledge of maintenance and repair for heating, ventilation, pneumatic and electrical controls, chillers, boilers, pumps and piping, laboratory ventilation, refrigeration, and HVAC controls.Skill in evaluating and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems.Knowledge of industry products, materials, equipment, and tools.Experience in high‑level event production.Experience working in or around aquatic facilities, maintaining event equipment, and tracking assets per a care plan and lifespan.Knowledge of code compliance with local, state, and federal laws.Experience solving problems in high‑stress situations.Required Licenses/CertificationsWashington State Driver’s LicenseCFC Certification Federal Class 1Grade 3 Steam Engineer license (Within 2 years of hire)Certified Pool Operator’s license (Within 1 year of hire)Competencies You BringManages Complexity: Turn complex, high‑quantity information into effective solutions.Optimizes Work Processes: Implement efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement.Communicates Effectively: Deliver clear multi‑mode communications for diverse audiences.Instills Trust: Earn confidence through honesty, integrity, authenticity.Organizational Savvy: Navigate complex policy, process, and people dynamics.It Would Be Great if You Also BringKnowledge of aquatic sports rules and required event equipment.Experience transitioning facilities for varied events and testing electronic competitive equipment.Experience with Swiss Omega Timing software.Experience maintaining electronic facility and emergency systems such as Honeywell Spyder, BAC Net Lon Works, Tridium Niagara Framework, and Guardian Emergency Systems.Working ConditionsWork Location: King County Aquatic Center, 650 SW Campus Dr, Federal Way, WA 98023.Work Schedule: Full‑time, 40‑hour week, covered under FLSA and overtime eligible.Union Representation: Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 925.Application and Selection ProcessApplication materials will be screened for clarity, completeness, and alignment with the required qualifications.
