The institute houses 10 research groups and 3 technical platforms. As part of the project Receptors Acridinium for Supramolecular Separations (ACROSS), funded by the National Research Agency (ANR), we are recruiting a Post‑Doctoral Researcher in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry W/M. Mission The solvophobic effect is a widespread driving force for host‑guest chemistry. Like H2O, perfluorocarbons (PFCs) are interesting solvents for the confinement of supramolecular receptors. New poly‑acridinium receptors will be confined in PFCs and H2O and exploited for the selective extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from an organic source phase to a receptor phase through a transport phase (PFC or H2O). In this fundamental project, light will be used to drive the selective transport of HAP guests out of balance to enrich the reception phase with the desired solute. Finally, a systematic comparative study between PFC and H2O will allow estimating the enthalpic and entropic contributions of the two solvents in order to rationalize their solvophobic effect. Based on promising preliminary results, poly‑acridinium supramolecular receptors confined in PFCs and H2O will be developed to achieve more efficient and selective liquid/liquid purification processes. This project will be implemented in three Work Packages (WPs) and will involve three partners. Responsibilities Perform multi‑step syntheses of supramolecular receptors. Characterize receptors by NMR, mass spectrometry, etc. Characterize interactions in supramolecular complexes. Characterize optical and magnetic properties of complexes. Optimize the photocatalytic process. Contribute to scientific dissemination of results within the research group and through articles. Profile Holder of a PhD in Organic Chemistry, you ideally have already worked on organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry and photoredox chemistry. You are rigorous and autonomous in your work. You demonstrate good communication skills. You are proficient in English (level C1/B2) in a multicultural work context. More Information By joining this project, you will be integrated into the research group Nano‑Structures Organiques (NEO) which works on the development of new molecular and supramolecular architectures at the nanoscale, with particular attention to molecular design and engineering, the nano‑structuration of organic compounds, photonics and catalysis. You will be supervised by Jean‑Marc VINCENT. Based in Talence, Gironde, FRANCE – access by tramway line B (stop “Peixotto”) buses, bike. The laboratory is near the city‑centre of Bordeaux and about 60 Km of the Atlantic coast. 8‑month fixed‑term contract Gross monthly salary: 2750€ NB: the position is based in a laboratory in the Restrictive Zone, which requires an investigation prior to hiring, which can take up to 8 weeks.
