It works to eliminate infectious diseases globally, specialising in developing health solutions for the most at‑risk communities. Role Overview The Research Fellow (Health Economist) will work in partnership with economists, epidemiologists, mathematical modellers, and social scientists to evaluate public health interventions targeting infectious diseases, with a major focus on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in Africa and the Pacific. Key responsibilities include conducting cost‑effectiveness and budget impact assessments alongside trials and programmatic implementation of mass drug administration regimens, evaluating financing mechanisms for sustainable investment in NTDs, and collaborating with the Health Economics and Health Systems Research and Neglected Tropical Diseases Groups and partners in the countries where these groups operate. Essential Qualifications PhD or equivalent in health economics, public health, economics, or related discipline with substantial experience in designing or evaluating public health interventions Experience in economic evaluations, budget impact assessments of public health interventions Demonstrated experience leading or co‑leading economic evaluations with trials using STATA and/or R Skills in modelling long‑term health outcomes and costs of public health interventions Oversight of project dataset quality, integrity and security Ability to train and manage field teams in Australia and overseas Strong record of communicating findings through reports, presentations and peer‑reviewed publications, including as lead author Proven research output and involvement in securing research funding Desired Qualifications Experience evaluating interventions targeting neglected tropical diseases Experience working in low‑ and middle‑income or resource‑constrained settings Experience mentoring project staff and supervising higher‑degree students Pre‑employment Checks Verification of qualifications Benefits and Culture 17% superannuation and leave loading Flexible working Additional 3 days leave over the Christmas period Access to lifelong learning and career development Progressive HR practices How to Apply Please click Apply now to submit your application online.
