Lead System Engineer / Lead Ingénieur Système (H/F) As Lead System Engineer, you will own the general system architecture of our robot – from high-level functional decomposition to interface definitions and certification strategy. You will play a central role in aligning hardware, software, and safety requirements into a coherent, robust, and certifiable product. You will also be the primary point of contact with our external safety lab, driving the implementation of best practices and compliance pathways under the current Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and the upcoming EU Machinery Regulation. Your mission comes at a decisive moment for Marso: building our first production‑ready robots and preparing the industrial scale‑up. Key Responsibilities Architect, Specify & Validate the System – Own the global system architecture, define requirements and interfaces (including functional APIs), lead design reviews and critical trade‑offs, and support system integration and field validation to ensure coherence, robustness, and deployability. Drive Safety & Certification – Define and apply the certification methodology (requirements, specs, test plans, validation strategy) under the Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation. Ensure Customer‑Site Certification Readiness – Support customers and the deployment team to address certification and safety topics related to system integration within warehouse environments. Coordinate with Safety Lab – Interface with the external safety laboratory, consolidate recommendations, and translate them into system‑level decisions. Support Product Roadmap – Contribute to the product roadmap by defining and prioritizing customer use cases and operational scenarios. Profile Engineering degree (or equivalent) in robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems, or related field. 5+ years of experience in system engineering, robotics development, industrial automation, or complex hardware products. Proven track record in shipping systems or products – from concept through testing and deployment. Strong understanding of system engineering methodologies (requirements, FMEA, validation plans…). Familiarity with safety standards (ISO 12100, ISO 13849, ISO 10218, or similar). Ability to reason across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. Hands‑on mindset, rigor, teamwork, and appetite for real‑world challenges. Motivation to join an ambitious industrial adventure where every decision matters. A valid work authorization in France is required for this position. Marso does not sponsor visa or work permit applications. Other Favored Experiences Experience in logistics, industrial environments, or field robotics. Experience in CE certification or regulatory compliance. Exposure to autonomous mobile robots or safety‑rated systems. Experience in startup or fast‑paced environments. Hiring Process Prequalification interview (30 min) – first exchange with a team member to align expectations and experience. Technical test (30 min) – short practical exercise or discussion to evaluate your approach to real problems. Interview with the direct manager (1h) – deep dive into the role, technical vision, and collaboration.
