Job Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled system architect to join our team and play a critical role in defining the end‑to‑end system architecture of our next generation European LEO satellite communications system (IRIS²). In this position, you’ll work closely with internal engineers, architects, product and business development managers, and external suppliers leading the development of system components. You will write technical requirements, perform system trade studies, define the concept of operations, and maintain the technical baseline, including all the interface definitions. You will work closely with the program and the Integration & Test team to ensure that the system is developed and is fit for purpose. Who You Are: Someone who has architected and followed the deployment and refinement of at least one large multi‑user, bi‑directional wireless communications system – satellite‑based or otherwise. Experience working with or for communication system component suppliers, leading design reviews from either the supplier or customer side. A deep understanding and experience in system development, integration, verification, and validation processes. 5‑10 years of industry work experience. What You’ll Do: Participate in defining the end‑to‑end system architecture and associated documentation such as Design Definition File and Design Justification File. Conduct system trade‑offs, particularly those related to physical layer design, including air interface trade‑offs, time management, and inter‑segment trade‑offs. Define and implement processes for making and tracking key architectural decisions and changes using appropriate tools. Collaborate with the engineering tools manager to develop the functional architecture model and methodology, coordinating functional architecture activities within the architecture team. Coordinate with the interface manager to ensure overall model consistency. Work with payload, UT, and GW teams on main physical‑layer trade‑offs and take relevant decisions. Define CONOPS to ensure all functional flows are clearly defined. Contribute to system requirements writing for the topics you oversee. What You’ll Need: Strong background in integrating all system segments, including Payload, Mission Segment, Core Network, RAN, User Terminal, BSS, and OSS. Background in adapting communication systems for satellite deployments. Understanding of security/integrity protection for user data and control/management systems. Knowledge of NTN features appreciated. Experience using various systems engineering software tools for requirements management and model‑based systems engineering.
