Location Remote, EMEA region About the role We are hiring a Golang Engineering Manager who will lead a team of software engineers, design and develop an internal product, continuously improve engineering quality, and drive delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to work with great people and open‑source solutions supporting Canonical’s growth. Commercial Systems unit Billing team – design, develop and operate a Golang service for converting metrics into billable amounts and providing customers with real‑time spend visibility. Livepatch team – design, develop and operate a service that delivers Linux kernel patches between maintenance windows, ensuring security and reliability. Responsibilities Accountability for the design and development of an internal product. Leading a team of software engineers working in Golang. Developing the skills and capabilities of direct reports. Seeking improvements to established processes, designs and solutions. Building an understanding of business needs to deliver the greatest impact. Qualifications Exceptional academic track record in high school and university. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative narrative. Track record of exceeding expectations and achieving outstanding results. Experience with software development in a high‑level language (Golang, Python, Java, …). Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments. Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long. Nice‑to‑have skills Performance engineering and SRE experience. Experience with accounting, sales, sales operations or other business roles.
