OverviewJunior Platform Engineer – Labège, France – Hybrid (3 days onsite) – ContractJob SummaryWe are looking for a Junior Platform Engineer with a strong focus on frontend development to join our Platform team. The Platform team is responsible for enabling internal developer teams to self-serve their ability to run and own their code in production by creating standard, reusable components and processes. We treat our platform as a product, where our customers are the internal development teams. Your primary mission will be to strengthen our frontend capabilities by developing and maintaining our internal developer tools, including our Developer Portal, Release Portal, and various internal dashboards. You will work closely with a senior platform engineer and gradually expand your skills to other Platform engineering areas such as backend development, infrastructure automation, and Kubernetes operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn Platform Engineering practices while leveraging your frontend expertise to improve developer experience across the organization.ResponsibilitiesFrontend Development (Primary Focus - ~60-70%)Develop and maintain our internal Developer Portal to provide self-service capabilities for engineering teamsBuild and enhance our Release Portal for managing deployments and releasesCreate intuitive user interfaces and dashboards for internal platform toolsImplement new features and improve existing ones based on developer feedbackWork with Vue.js and React to build responsive, performant web applicationsCollaborate with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with APIs and servicesContribute to the design system and component library for internal toolsEnsure code quality through testing, code reviews, and following best practicesGather requirements from internal developer teams to understand their needsPlatform Engineering Activities (~30-40%)Participate in the full lifecycle of platform features: design, development, deployment, and monitoringContribute to backend services development (primarily in Golang and Python)Learn and contribute to infrastructure automation using Kubernetes and TerraformParticipate in on-call rotation to support platform services (with gradual ramp-up)Collaborate with the team on CI/CD pipeline improvementsHelp optimize developer workflows and iteration speedParticipate in sprint planning, demos, and retrospectivesDocument features and create user guides for internal toolsLearning and GrowthGradually expand your knowledge of Platform Engineering practicesLearn infrastructure concepts (Kubernetes, cloud services, networking)Develop backend skills with Golang and PythonParticipate in team knowledge sharing sessionsEvaluate new tools and technologies with the teamProfileRequirementsBachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related fieldMinimum 2 years of professional experience in frontend developmentKnowledge in Vue.js (Vue 3, Composition API)Experience with TypeScriptExperience with React is a plusProficiency with frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite) and package managers (yarn, npm)Understanding of REST APIs and how to integrate them in frontend applicationsKnowledge of HTML5, CSS3, CSS preprocessors like SCSS or SASS and modern Component frameworks (Vuetify)Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflowsBasic understanding of backend development conceptsStrong desire to learn and grow into a full Platform Engineer roleExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailTeam spirit and good communication skillsAbility to work autonomously while seeking help when neededProficiency in English (oral and written)Nice to haveExperience with testing frameworks (Vitest)Basic knowledge of Golang or PythonFamiliarity with Docker and containerization conceptsExperience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)Understanding of Kubernetes basicsExperience building internal tools or developer platformsKnowledge of design systems and component librariesExperience with state management libraries (Vuex, Pinia, Redux)About AmpstekAmpstek is a global IT solutions partner serving clients across North America, Europe, APAC, LATAM, and MEA.
