We enable organizations to measure environmental performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and demonstrate quantifiable progress in ecosystem restoration - making environmental stewardship more accessible and actionable.Position overviewWe are seeking an Environmental Data Scientist with a strong background in environmental science to join our team.In this role, you will apply your expertise in ecological modeling and data analytics to help develop our environmental monitoring platform. You will work alongside our technical and scientific teams to implement cutting-edge solutions for measuring and analyzing environmental impacts. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the growing NatureTech space, where you'll combine your environmental science knowledge with advanced data analytics to create meaningful impact.If you are passionate about using technology to solve environmental challenges and want to contribute to building the future of environmental monitoring, we want to hear from you.Start date: As soon as possibleLocation: Paris or hybrid (within a 2-hour train distance from Paris to be at the office 2 days a week)ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the team to shape and execute Kanop’s scientific and technological approach.Contribute to the development and refinement of our offerings to ensure high accuracy and compliance with standards.Contribute to the innovation in the measurement and monitoring of biodiversity, biomass, and ecosystem health.Contribute to scientific research and development, ensuring the integration of the latest advancements in technology and environmental policy.Ensure the scientific integrity and robustness of our data, methodologies, and reporting.Engage with regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders, and academic partners to contribute to, and stay ahead of emerging trends, standards, and policy developments.Present scientific findings and product capabilities to clients, investors, and partners.What we are looking forThe ideal candidate will have:You have the appropriate educational and work background (we are open to considering a range of experience levels, if the position interests you, please don’t hesitate to apply):A PhD in environmental science or a related field with experience (1+ years) working in an applied science role.A masters degree in Ecology or a related field with significant (4+ years) experience working in a research-forward role.Experience in ecological modeling such as species distribution models, climate-based population modeling, or similar techniques.Experience with classic statistical, machine learning, and deep learning modeling approaches as it applies to ecology.Experience working with productized remote sensing data coming from sources such as multispectral, hyperspectral, SAR, LIDAR etc.Experience working with ground-based species sensing approaches such as eDNA, bioacoustics, camera traps, etc in a productized format.Experience working with production grade python code.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.A passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive environmental impact.English fluency (oral and written)Do you think you would be a good fit for this role but don't meet all the requirements?
