BLACKMILL GAMES - Lead Unity & Console developer (F/H/NB) at Focus Entertainment This is a full‑time, 5‑day a week, fully remote position. Responsibilities Ownership of tech features: take ownership of certain features to ensure the highest possible quality. Console development: support console development on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, ensuring robust performance and TRC/XR compliance. Cross‑team collaboration: work closely with design, art, and production to estimate tasks, scope technical needs, and maintain alignment across disciplines. Team management: manage other developers, mentor juniors and support hiring to build a high‑performing team. Maintain standards: guarantee a robust and reusable code mindset within the team, promoting maintainable and scalable solutions throughout the development process. Suggest new concepts and ideas based on a strong understanding of current trends. Maintain planning: coordinate with other leads on planning and resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of team capabilities and alignment with project goals. About the WW1 Game Series The WW1 Game Series is a series of intense multiplayer first‑person shooters delivering authentic and immersive First World War action on PC and console. The series contains Verdun (2015), Tannenberg (2019), and Isonzo (2022). With the launch of the critically‑acclaimed Isonzo in September 2022 our team reached an important milestone in delivering a quality multi‑platform game. Joining BlackMill Games means you will enter an established franchise and project base where we continuously move the boundaries of quality and innovation as we set the next steps in the franchise. We work with people passionate about creating games, history, and show initiative. Qualifications (all Mandatory) 5+ years of experience working on Unity projects. Great understanding of the core engine features and workflows (prefab setup, asset importers, terrain, colliders, common knowledge, etc). Decent understanding of core standard packages: UGUI, Profiling tools, Animations and Animator, Cinemachine (+ Timeline), Addressables, UIToolkit. Strong C# skills: experience with Rider/VS IDEs for writing, formatting and debugging code; multiplayer code and networking systems; ability to write clean, understandable code and clear commit messages. Console development experience (Xbox/PlayStation): understanding of console TRC/XR compliance, build specifications, and the certification process. Previous experience managing and/or mentoring remote teams with diverse cultural backgrounds. Strong understanding of game development, including pre‑production and effort estimation, adherence to best practices, and expertise in managing the release pipeline. Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment. Strong interest in the FPS genre and trends. Strong communication skills for clear, effective, and collaborative interaction across cross‑functional teams, ensuring alignment and shared understanding throughout the development process. Fluent English. Other Requirements (all Mandatory) Experience with SVN (or other version control systems). Available for 36 hours per week. Fully remote work experience. Self‑motivated and collaborative mindset. Located in Europe (within 2 hours time difference from Amsterdam). Bonus Skills / Experience Experience with development for Steam and Epic platforms. Experience with PlayFab. Experience with Fmod. Understanding of PHP. Understanding of Unity’s HDRP. Understanding of Unity’s ECS/JobSystem. Experience with working on mature codebases. Experience with Photoshop or equivalent software.Experience with 3D software. Passionate about WW1 and history.
