Rennes, France Sweetch Temps plein

Your mission is to design the architecture of the cell (mini-stack) and define the electrodes (materials, interfaces, geometry) in order to achieve performance (power, efficiency, ΔP), reliability, and cost targets. You specify and validate the functional and geometrical definition; the creation and management of 3D models are under the responsibility of the Module Integration Lead and the Product Development Lead, with whom you will work in close collaboration. Responsibilities: Cell / mini-stack architecture: define the structure (flow fields, plates, gaskets, compression interfaces) and the trade-offs between hydraulics / electrochemistry / pressure drop; freeze the product definition at the appropriate maturity level. Electrodes & interfaces: specify substrates, active layers, and surface treatments; optimize porosity, conductivity, specific surface area, contact resistance, and chemical stability. Microfluidics & distribution (co-engineering with the Filtration & Micro-Hydraulics System Engineer): design channel/collector networks for flow and current density homogeneity; the Senior Cell Designer defines the flow fields, interfaces, and performance criteria; the F&MH System Engineer formalizes hydraulic requirements (pressure drop, allowable gradients, connections, fouling limitations) and validates module-level integration. Materials & compatibility: select metals/polymers/composites; define coatings, anti-corrosion measures, and material pairings compatible with membranes and fluids. Assembly & sealing (co-engineering with the Module Integration Lead and the Filtration & Micro-Hydraulics System Engineer): define, with the aforementioned leads, the assembly strategy (bonding/welding/compression) and gasket plan; clearly allocate responsibilities (Senior Cell Designer: cell architecture, interfaces, and gasket plan; Module Integration Lead: module/skid interfaces, tooling, DfA/DfM; F&MH System Engineer: hydraulic requirements, pressure drop, connections); co-validate mechanical integrity/sealing and set acceptance criteria and control plans. Specifications & deliverables: produce functional requirements, critical tolerances, and 2D schematics; review/annotate/validate 3D models issued by the Module Integration Lead / Product Development Lead; maintain bills of materials and calculation notes. Design validation testing: define, with the Validation team, cell/electrode test protocols; analyze results and drive design iterations. Industrialization: work with the Process Team (stacking, bonding/welding, in-line controls) and Material Development (membrane/electrode interface) to translate design into robust processes (DfM/DfA). Cost & durability: propose cost-down options (materials, processes, standardization) and reliability levers (robust design, accelerated aging). Configuration management: manage design changes (ECR/ECO) and ensure consistency between calculations, tests, and product definition. Mechanical / Materials / Electrochemistry Engineer (Arts et Métiers, Mines Paris, CentraleSupélec, INSA, ENSAM, Grenoble INP, Polytech, or equivalent). 7 to 12 years of experience in the design of cells/mini-stacks or fluidic/electrochemical devices (fuel cell, battery, electrolyzer, heat exchangers, fluid-based medical devices). Proven expertise in microfluidics, electrochemical interfaces, and the assembly of soft materials, tolerances, and DfM/DfA. 3D CAD: ability to read, annotate, and validate 3D models and drawings; ownership of 3D modeling (creation/management) lies with the Module Integration Lead and the Product Development Lead. Simulation: ability to define load cases and criteria and to review FEM/CFD analyses carried out by experts; hands-on practice is a plus. Co-engineering: demonstrated ability to work with the Module Integration Lead and the Filtration & Micro-Hydraulics System Engineer (multi-constraint trade-offs: electrochemistry / microfluidics / assembly / DfA-DfM), to prioritize design compromises, and to secure alignment of deliverables (requirements, models, tests). Data analysis & iteration: comfortable with analyzing test data and conducting rapid design→test→design loops; experience working in a matrix organization (Product / Materials / Process / Validation). Fluent in technical English; strong documentation discipline, sense of priorities, and team spirit. #J-18808-Ljbffr
