About the RoleThe Directorate for Legal Affairs (LEG) is a small and highly integrated team that provides advice and information on the legal, institutional, and procedural aspects of the Organisation's activities. As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will work in the Grants and Intellectual Property Unit of the General Legal Affairs Division, focusing on administrative matters relating to the OECD's financing arrangements (voluntary contributions and grants). You may also be called upon to provide legal advice on intellectual property, personal data protection issues, and other specialized areas of the law.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and support to our teams on a range of matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property, and personal data protection.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure that our activities are conducted in accordance with the highest legal standards.
- Maintain organized records and documentation of legal matters, including contract terms and legal research.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A postgraduate university degree in law (e.g., master's equivalent or Juris Doctor).
- At least two years' relevant professional experience in positions focusing on contract drafting and negotiation, with experience in the identification of key issues and risks, their prioritization, and the provision of viable solutions.
- Experience working with the two main legal systems of relevance to the Organisation (civil and common law) and/or of the laws relating to intellectual property, personal data protection issues, and new technologies/internet would also be an advantage.
- An excellent written and oral command of one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
