About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Insurance Risk Management Expert to join our team at HITACHI ENERGY LTD. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing and mitigating insurance risks across Europe and its cluster countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage insurable risks to protect the company and its shareholders from catastrophic loss and minimize the total cost of risk.
  • Act as an extension of Group Function Group Treasury - Insurance Risk Management, centralizing the purchase of all local insurances and ensuring full participation of all local reporting units in global and local insurance plans.
  • Improve the company's risk profile to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental losses to 'best-in-class' levels, alerting country management of major existing/potential risk trends.
  • Establish and maintain close cooperation with local divisions, business units, and other group functions.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of a Global Insurance Risk Management Portal.
  • Manage surety bond relationships with brokers, insurers, and in coordination with Export and Trade Finance – Guarantee Management.
  • Review and monitor insurance needs in countries by establishing key contact persons in the business and/or finance and ensuring country requirements are properly covered.
  • Ensure adherence to global Directives & Instructions, ensuring local insurance purchases meet global requirements.
  • Actively support the business and legal department with tenders and risk review processes.
  • Risk Control: Integrate or align local risk control efforts with those of the PG Group worldwide through active liaison with GF-GTI.
  • Premium distribution: Design and implement systems for the distribution of insurance premiums in a manner that provides financial incentives to better control risk.
  • Trainings: Prepare and conduct insurance risk management seminars with the local business organization and other local group functions.
  • M&A support: Provide input on insurance risks in M&A due diligence work.
  • Department administration: Manage departmental operating budget and maintain local manuals that are in addition to GF's manual.

Broker Management

  • Responsible for establishing and actively managing insurance brokers in all countries in the region.
  • Develop and implement procedures manuals for brokers in each country.
  • Establish a process to ensure compliance of contractual clauses with the broker and with the legal function.
  • Local policy placement and renewals with the broker, coverage adequacy, premium and tax payments, and distributions.
  • Direct brokers in each country to establish necessary local insurance programs.
  • Direct brokers in each country to establish necessary self-insurance funds/accounts in cooperation with the business (where needed).
  • Establish contracts with third-party administrators for claim management (as necessary in each country).
  • Establish roles, responsibilities, and authority for claim management and settlements.
  • Support critical cases of incidents and claims management in various countries.
  • Initiate issuance of specific insurance certificates.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of insurance risk management experience is required.
  • University Degree (Bachelor or Master) in Law, Economics, Engineering, or another adequate subject.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (also in English).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office suite applications.
  • Willingness to travel on a monthly basis.
  • Work Permit.
