Coating Principal Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission and optimize the coating processes for the Gigafactory, ensuring seamless transition from FAT to SOP.
  • Collaborate with the product engineering team to enhance the coating process for electrode design, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Improve coating processes by increasing automation levels, reducing capital and operating costs.
  • Test and validate cutting-edge technologies for the coating process, staying at the forefront of industry advancements.
  • Investigate and resolve defects in the coating process during operation, ensuring high-quality output.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Proven exceptional ability and a culture of full-cycle engineering, with members responsible and accountable for projects from start to finish.
  • 5-10 years of experience in slot die coating and drying processes, with expertise in single and dual-slot die coating systems, fluid mechanics, and piping design.
  • Experience with sensors for roll-to-roll web processes, such as beta-ray, x-ray, ultrasonic, laser, and vision inspection.
  • Background in manufacturing environments, particularly with coating widths up to 1400mm, and experience with products sensitive to environmental conditions.
  • Strong statistical and data analysis skills, with proficiency in tools like Python, Matlab, and Minitab.
  • Basic: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Preferred: M.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Professional English language proficiency.
