Breeding Agronomist

BASF France S.A.S. is seeking a highly skilled Breeding Agronomist to join our team in Beauce-la-Romaine, France.

• Design and execute trial protocols for oilseed breeding trials in the region of focus.
• Establish, maintain, and evaluate oilseed breeding trials to deliver high-quality data for statistical analysis and selection.
• Manage small plot field trials from seeding to harvest, including activities such as trialing location identification, seedbed preparation, seeding, scouting, in-crop pesticide applications, pest identification & monitoring, phenotypic data collection, harvesting, and data reporting.
• Oversee all resources in the region, ensuring the achievement of breeding objectives and effective operation of the program.
• Participate in the local EHS program, ensuring all activities are performed safely and responsibly.
• Execute seed quality analysis (NIR) and liaise with the lab to ensure accurate seed quality.
• Support QA/QMS activities as required by the breeding program.
• Participate in the EMEA breeding seed setup to ensure all protocols are completed and ready for planting in a timely fashion.
• Establish and maintain industry presence, ensuring BASF is up to date on current industry activities.

• Minimum bachelor's degree or diploma in agriculture or a related discipline.
• Experience in plant breeding, genetics, canola agronomy, canola botany, pollen flow, genetic purity, and conducting research trials using statistical design and analysis.
• Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting tractors, sprayers, plot combines, and other related small plot equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with problem-solving skills and flexibility to modify plans as required.
