RISK TEAM CONTEXT

Under the umbrella of Group Strategic Programs, the Risk Team's mission is to support AXA Group Operations' objectives by fostering a robust Risk culture. We ensure that Risk considerations are integral to key decisions, projects, application products, and IT operations, all while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the Risk landscape.

Main Objectives of the Risk Team

  • To optimize shareholder investments and resources in innovation.
  • To provide an independent, Risk-informed perspective on Group Operations Strategy.
  • To conduct early Risk assessments for new product launches, considering both internal and customer viewpoints.
  • To secure and enhance the execution of key Group Operations projects, ensuring the delivery of products and services that benefit the entities.
  • To mitigate Risk exposure and potential impacts through transfer, diversification, mitigation, or avoidance strategies.
  • To play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulations through the deployment of Group Standards.

AUDIT REMEDIATION ACCOUNTABILITY

  • The primary responsibility is to ensure that Audit report roadmaps and associated remediation plans are completed on schedule and meet established quality criteria.
  • The secondary responsibility involves defining appropriate governance, best practices, and processes, providing a framework to consistently track and report throughout the Audit issue remediation lifecycle, thereby achieving an effective and efficient remediation process for Group Operations.

TEAM STRUCTURE

  • A central team of 7 members reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
  • A distributed team of approximately 15 individuals addressing local Risks at the country level, collaborating closely with various entities, with a functional reporting line to the CRO.
  • A network of Risk champions across different functions, working in close partnership with the CRO and maintaining a functional reporting line to the CRO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Alternant will assist in the annual Quantification process by taking ownership of activities led by the Process lead and supporting additional tasks as necessary:

Quality Assurance on GO and Group Assets

  • Conduct Quality Checks on Risk scenario templates provided by each Risk Officer.
  • Ensure that the outcomes of Quality checks (including statistical parameters, data completeness, and formula consistency) are acknowledged by each Risk Officer.
  • Deliver final Group Risk outputs during the standalone phase, primarily focusing on the consolidation of scenarios and documentation related to reporting and expert judgment formalization.

Monitoring Quantification Activities

  • Track the progress of the Quantification exercise using risk management tools and established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

PROFILE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Experience

  • Master's degree (M1 or M2) required, with a focus on starting an apprenticeship.
  • Fundamental understanding of regulations (e.g., Solvency II).
  • Familiarity with Risk management frameworks, processes, and governance.
  • Knowledge of statistics, including random variables and distribution laws.
  • Understanding of operational Risk quantification, including Value at Risk calculations.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Analytical and Reporting Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of routine to complex documents and agreements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Risk management and the capability to identify issues effectively (familiarity with probability and mathematics is beneficial).

Project Management and Communication Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, coordination, and communication abilities.
  • Good understanding of asset management, including document management and configuration management.

Technical Proficiency

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including pivot tables and macros).
  • Basic experience with Phoenix for generating extracts for manipulation in Excel and performing quality checks.

Autonomy

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and stay organized, both independently and as part of a team.
