Job Summary:
The Leadership Management Trainee Mechanical (LMT-M) program is a comprehensive training program designed to equip new trainees with the necessary leadership, industry knowledge, and technical skills to succeed as a mechanical supervisor across CPKC's network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and apply mechanical bad order processes, cycle time, dwell time, productivity, and key metrics to assign tasks and manage productivity within mechanical operations teams
- Develop and maintain a safety-focused culture through active observations and discussions about rule compliance and implementation of preventative measures
- Exhibit leadership capacity to effectively lead mechanical operations employees and model competencies of effective leadership
- Drive results, lead others, lead thought, and lead by example while prioritizing work and making decisions aligned with CPKC's values and five foundations
- Complete and pass management train conductor certification and be deployed once qualified and as the business requires
- Successfully complete all phases of the LMT program by achieving minimum requirements on written and practical evaluations and delivering all reading, assignments, and projects within assigned timelines
Requirements:
- High school or general equivalency diploma required; post-secondary education in a technical trade preferred
- 1-2 years' previous supervisory experience in transportation, construction, logistics, oil and gas, military, airlines, mining, or manufacturing industry preferred
- Past railway experience in a mechanical foreman role considered an asset
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to travel for extended periods and work 24/7 shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate CPKC policies, procedures, project plans, safety guidelines, etc.
- Able to foster trust and credibility in new work environments and build strong relationships across the business

As an employer with a North American presence, the possibility exists that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements.
The majority of training will take place in Calgary, Alberta, with some on-the-job training required within various provinces or territories throughout CPKC's network in Canada.
