Job Title: UNESCO Internship in Natural Sciences

UNESCO is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join its team as interns in the Natural Sciences Sector. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of projects and programs that promote sustainable development, education, and scientific research.

Job Description:

The Natural Sciences Sector at UNESCO is responsible for promoting the use of science for sustainable development, education, and research. The sector works closely with governments, international organizations, and civil society to develop and implement policies and programs that address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and review of project documents, including project proposals, reports, and other relevant materials.
  • Contribute to the development of briefing notes, progress reports, and other documents that support the sector's communication and visibility efforts.
  • Support the sector's communication and visibility efforts by updating the relevant webpage, designing and disseminating communication materials, and mobilizing resources.
  • Analyze and compile background data for potential partnerships and fundraising events and opportunities.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support in the planning and organization of events, meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Support the preparation of specific budgets, financial and accounting documents, and project evaluation.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent) or have recently graduated with a Master's degree or PhD (or second degree as defined above).
  • Excellent command of English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language (English or French) an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software.
  • Ability to work well in a team and adapt to an international working environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Studies in the field of water science, hydrology, ecological science, earth sciences, basic sciences, and engineering, or in another related field of natural sciences.
Benefits and Entitlements:

UNESCO does not remunerate interns. Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship.
