We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Admissions Coordinator to join our team at McLean Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating inpatient admissions for psychiatric and substance abuse referrals across four campuses 24/7/365. This role requires strong interviewing skills, clinical knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate inpatient admissions for psychiatric and substance abuse referrals across four campuses 24/7/365
Interview patients, family members, or referring professionals to obtain clinical and demographic data
Gather comprehensive and accurate information relevant to the need for inpatient admission
Review EPIC records for patients being referred within MGB, reviewing clinical, medical, and ED timelines to review patients' full clinical presentation
Triage urgent and emergent calls to appropriate levels of care
Respond to preadmission inquiries promptly
Interact with patients, family members, or referring professionals in a courteous and professional manner
Provide MGB-wide bed searches following established triage procedures
Enter patient information into EPIC completely and accurately
Maintain confidentiality of departmental information and contribute to the effective operation of the department
Requirements
B.A., B.S., or equivalency
Three to five years of experience in mental health care settings and at least one year as a psych triage associate
Strong interviewing skills, clinical knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, and excellent interpersonal communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment
Knowledge of computer terminals, EPIC, and Microsoft Teams preferred
