The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to oversee the entire cycle of roads and bridge projects at designated sites, from planning to completion.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct engineering surveys for selected roads and other structures, including bridges, to ensure accurate design and construction.
- Provide inputs into the design process, prepare the Bill of Quantities, and calculate final quantities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop geometric design from survey results using AutoCAD, Civil CAD, and/or other appropriate software to ensure high-quality construction.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, architects, engineers, and other specialists to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Supervise contractors on site, ensuring that works meet the highest quality standards and are completed in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Monitor construction and rehabilitation works, including environmental mitigation and safety plans, to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
- Prepare budgets for projects and monitor costs to ensure they are within limits.
- Conduct regular inspections of sites during construction to ensure that work is being performed according to designs and specifications.
- Review contractor's work programmes, resources, schedule, and project implementation plans to ensure compliance.
- Provide clear written and verbal instructions to contractors or their representatives on-site and resolve any project-related problems or issues.
- Manage personnel at the construction site and provide technical advice and recommendations to the bridge and road construction team for improving construction practices.
- Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor/head of the department.
- A Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field with at least 10 years of bridge/structures experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with over 15 years of experience in the design and construction of roads and bridges.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in delivering bridge projects, preferably suspension bridges with spans of more than 100 meters.
- A good command over relevant software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETABs, STAAD Pro, etc.
- Experience in engaging with local government staff, local contractors, and communities to build their capacity in the design, construction, and maintenance of rural roads, bridges, and community infrastructure.
- A valid registration/license from the Pakistan Engineering Council.
- Knowledge of financial and procurement management.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
