Job Title: Mechanical Vacuum Technician
Job Summary:
The ESRF is seeking a skilled Mechanical Vacuum Technician to join its Vacuum Group. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing the vacuum systems across the entire complex of accelerators and ESRF beamlines.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct performance analyses to optimize vacuum systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on vacuum equipment.
- Undertake projects to improve vacuum efficiency and develop innovative technologies.
- Assemble and test vacuum chambers to precise specifications.
- Modify installations and troubleshoot vacuum-related issues.
- Collaborate with teams for installation and provide technical support.
- Clean and prepare components for vacuum exposure.
- Document procedures and results accurately.
- Participate in routine and emergency maintenance, with mandatory standby.
Requirements:
- Technical degree in Mechanical Construction or Metrology (BSc, Licence, HND, HNC, BTS, DUT, Bachelor, Meister, Vordiplom, Perito, Laurea Triennale, Diplomatura, Ingegneria Tecnica or equivalent) with a minimum 120 ECTS.
- At least five years of professional experience in the machining, assembly, and testing of mechanical components.
- Proficiency in PC use and standard office software.
- TIG welding experience is preferred, with knowledge of high/ultra-high vacuum practice considered a plus.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn about vacuum and UHV systems.
- Knowledge of electrical heating and electrical safety is an advantage.

Working Conditions:
The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
