Job Summary

The Ceded Reinsurance Associate is responsible for managing the company's reinsurance relationships and agreements. This role involves coordinating with brokers, reinsurers, and internal departments to ensure accurate contracts, reinsurance accounting, reporting, and claims handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the reinsurance treaties placement following company policy and procedures, and oversee the treaties life cycle, including preparing submission information to markets, supporting negotiations with reinsurers/brokers, analyzing quoted terms, and reviewing reinsurance contracts/endorsements.
  • Maintain accurate records of reinsurance contracts, endorsements, and correspondence.
  • Prepare internal reports and papers for the board/committee, including reinsurance terms and conditions.
  • Assist in preparing reinsurance data for external audits, SOX controls, and regulatory submissions.
  • Partner with intermediaries to manage treaty-related tasks, requiring close relations with internal customers and colleagues in Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, Legal, and Claims.
  • Attend regular meetings to explain reinsurance coverage and application to business, ensuring understanding of how placements interact with various lines of business ceding entities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Reinsurance, with experience in Ceded Reinsurance highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of reinsurance structures (e.g., proportional, non-proportional, facultative) and ceded reinsurance processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a virtual team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration both in person and virtual.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
