The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is seeking a dynamic and versatile Communications Specialist Consultant to enhance their operations in Nepal. This consultancy role will focus on spearheading communication strategies for Research for Development initiatives, including the CGIAR's NEXUS Gains Initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate strategic communication and knowledge management deliverables
- Facilitate the organization and engagement in various events
- Provide comprehensive communications and media assistance
- Compose and refine articles for international platforms
- Collaborate with project leaders and researchers to create content and outreach materials
- Generate social media content and oversee digital platforms
- Engage with media representatives and coordinate press events
- Create video and photographic documentation of project activities
- Ensure adherence to branding standards and visibility protocols
- Support the development of internal communication strategies
- Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication initiatives
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience
- Proficient in communications and knowledge management
- Experience in event organization and stakeholder engagement
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and various digital tools
- Strong multimedia capabilities
- Experience in facilitating events
- Detail-oriented with robust analytical skills
- Able to thrive in an international setting
- Awareness of diversity, inclusion, and gender considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with water security and development challenges
- Experience within research institutions
Language Skills:
- Exceptional writing and editing proficiency in English and Nepali
